Sustainability Video Project

USDA is creating a series of high-quality videos to illustrate the reality of American agriculture, focusing on key themes of sustainability, animal welfare, family farming, quality, innovation and stewardship. The videos will create brand awareness among consumers for U.S. agriculture and be supported by future industry-produced marketing videos and activities.

SUSTA worked with USDA to create the first two videos for this project, which focus on sustainability practices in the Southern U.S.:

Sustainability and High-Quality U.S. Ingredients - The Key to a Great Gumbo
From fishermen to rice farmers, southern U.S. agriculture producers take great care in how they bring high quality ingredients to some of the region’s most iconic dishes, like gumbo. In American agriculture, sustainability and conservation are a way of life for producers. That care and quality has the power to bring together generations of people for years to come around a bowl of delicious, wholesome gumbo.

Gumbo: Celebrating Diversity is DelicioUS!
New Orleans' gumbo brings people together by uniting diverse cultures and high-quality American ingredients like Louisiana rice, Gulf Coast shrimp and blue crab, and various kinds of sausage. Culinary icon Leah Chase once said, " Food builds big bridges. If you can eat with someone, you can learn from them, and when you learn from someone, you can make big changes. We changed the course of America in this restaurant over bowls of gumbo. We can talk to each other and relate to each other when we eat together." Take a tour in culinary diplomacy with Leah Chase's family and learn how American farmers and fishers contribute to a bowl of delicious gumbo.
