Carter Pecan

Longtime SUSTA Participant Reports Exponential Export Growth

Carter Pecan Company, based in Panama City Beach, Florida, is a grower, sheller, and exporter of Georgia pecans, with its processing facility located in Camilla, Georgia. A small business and longtime participant in the Southern U.S. Trade Association (SUSTA), Carter Pecan has worked with the organization for more than a decade.

Over the years, the company has regularly exhibited in the SUSTA pavilion at major international trade shows, including Gulfood (Dubai), ANUGA (Germany), SIAL Paris, FoodEx Japan, Seoul Food & Hotel, and SIAL China, as well as on trade missions targeting markets from Taiwan to Brazil. Carter Pecan also utilizes SUSTA’s CostShare program to extend its marketing budget and enhance its international promotional efforts.

“We always find that it is better to exhibit with SUSTA at trade shows because not only do we get to exhibit within the U.S. pavilion, but we also save a lot of money. And that has helped to promote our visibility as well as the visibility of pecans in general,” said Linda Truong, Marketing and Sales Director.

And their efforts, along with the support of SUSTA, have paid off. They have grown from exporting to three or four countries to now exporting to over 40 foreign countries! “SUSTA has accelerated that growth.”

These efforts, combined with SUSTA’s support, have delivered measurable results. Carter Pecan has expanded from exporting to just three or four countries to serving more than 40 international markets. “SUSTA has accelerated that growth,” Truong added.
