The Value of Reflection

3-11-2026

Big Picture Report: March 2026
Bernadette Wiltz-Lang, SUSTA

Your feedback is critical to the next chapter of SUSTA’s export promotion programs

As the United States approaches the 250th anniversary of its founding, we are reminded that progress is rarely accidental. It is built on reflection of what has worked, what has not, and how lessons learned can guide the path forward. Milestones like this encourage us to pause and consider - how can we build an even stronger future?

In the same way that our nation reflects on its history to shape the next chapter, organizations and industries must regularly assess their own progress. For SUSTA and the companies we serve, this means taking time to evaluate our programs and strategies. In 2025, SUSTA participants engaged in a wide range of export promotion activities, from trade shows and trade missions to market research and promotional campaigns. Each of these efforts represents an investment of time, resources, and energy with the shared goal of expanding international opportunities for Southern U.S. agricultural products.

But to ensure that these efforts continue to deliver meaningful results, we must understand their impact. Which programs provided the most value? Which markets showed the greatest promise? Where did participants see the strongest return on their efforts - and where might we improve? The answers to these questions help shape future strategies, ensuring that our programs remain effective, relevant, and responsive to the needs of our participants.

This is where your feedback plays a critical role. By completing your 2025 surveys, you provide the data and insights that allow us to measure outcomes, evaluate success, and identify opportunities for improvement. These surveys are not simply a reporting requirement; they are an essential tool that helps us refine our programming and advocate for continued support of export promotion initiatives.

SUSTA’s surveys ensure that future programs are shaped by the experiences and perspectives of the companies that participate in them. Please login to your SUSTA account and navigate to “Surveys” to complete all outstanding surveys.
