Canada Inbound Trade Mission to Fancy Food Trade Show 2017

Jun 24, 2017
Saturday
New York City, New York
Inbound Mission

Canada stands as the top export market for US high value food products, totaling 17 billion. The majority of US agricultural products have entered Canada duty free since 1998 due to a provision of NAFTA, since then US agricultural exports to Canada have more than tripled in value. The top five US consumer-ready food export categories for 2015 were: prepared foods ($1.4 billion), fresh vegetables ($1.4 billion), fresh fruits ($1.3 billion), snack foods ($1 billion) and non-alcoholic beverages ($900 million). Marketers treat Canada as a country with five different regions: Ontario, Quebec, Atlantic Canada, Prairies, and Western Canada. Recently, the overseeing food safety entities of both countries entered into an agreement to facilitate trade. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) established the Food Safety Systems Recognition Agreement. This agreement recognizes the food safety systems of both countries as comparable to each other and thus reduces regulatory requirements when trading and deposits more confidence between the two countries.

The Summer Fancy Food Show is a premiere event offering SUSTA registered companies the possibility to come into contact with Canadian buyers from the various regions and have one-on-one meetings with them. This is a great opportunity to explore the Canadian market while attending one of the most popular food tradeshows in the world.
