About World's Best Cheesecake

It all started with a baker named Sansbury (Cotton) Sweeney from Arlington, VA. Sweeney dedicated 15 years of his early life to creating a creamy style cheesecake that contained only natural ingredients. In 1957, after years of trial and error, be finally accomplished making the first WORLD'S BEST CHEESECAKE in his Westover bakery. A cheesecake with a true graham cracker crust, farm fresh eggs, fresh cream cheese and an original sour cream topping (a whole mouthful of MMMMMM). From the beginning, Sweeney knew he had something great when the customers began referring to the then unnamed cheesecake as the world's best cheesecake. Seven years later, in 1964, WORLD'S BEST CHEESECAKE became a registered trademark and was incorporated in the state of Virginia.

For the next 11 years Sweeny ran the company and made his famous cheesecakes - winning such awards as the Societe Culinaire Philanthropique de New York, first in the Washington D. C. Culinary Arts Show, and Washingtonian Magazine's Best, Sweeney ran the company until his retirement in 1986, when the Clarke family purchased it. Things have changed a bit, but some things will never change. Sweeney's recipe for the WORLD'S BEST CHEESECAKE, our dedication to quality and our customers, and our ability to make your mouth water. As the WORLD'S BEST CHEESECAKE, we have forty years of experience in making quality cheesecake - a claim no other company can match. We are also very active in creating a quality community. Working in partnership with local high school, we provide work experience and on-the-job training for young people with disabilities. Some of these individuals have become full-time employees in our bakery. Sponsorship of a Special Olympic athlete has also been a long standing tradition for the company. The family owned business also provides assistance to local organizations to help them raise needed funds at a number of events.
