Producers Peanut Company, Inc. was established in 1924 as a candy manufacturer. In the late 1920's, our production lines were changed to peanut butter. As a source of high protein, it was used to feed those who could not afford to purchase meat products. We packed natural peanut butter in large drums and shipped it to our customers for re-packing. Our brand The Peanut Kids was created in February of 1924. Today, we market four of our own labels. - The Peanut Kids, America Farms, New Life and Sunny Day.

In late 1940, we started distribution of foodservice peanut butter with The Peanut Kids label. This led to packing private label for many of the foodservice buying groups that are still in existence today. Groups such as Performance Food Group are still very much a part of our business. In the 40's, packaging included tin pails and large tin tubs. Today, we have five typical foodservice packages from which to choose.

In early 1950, we added a full line of retail sizes, which are still packed today. Distribution was concentrated around The Peanut Kids label. This led to private label retail for many of the large chains. Today, we offer complete sizing for our retail customers. Our confectionary packaging was updated from steel drums to the newer fibre drums, and granulated peanuts were introduced to our customers for toppings and fillings.

In the 1980's, our company was one of the first to switch from metal lids to plastic lids. We were one of the first private label packers to introduce a full line of PET jars. All retail sizes are sealed so they stay fresh much longer. We have added a PET 8oz. jar. The 8, 12, and 18oz. are our best sellers.

Again, in the mid 1980's, we introduced our company and skills to the international markets. We currently have highly valued customers in 26 countries including the United States. These customers include retail, foodservice, and confectionary with sales that cover exporters located domestically or directly to customers abroad. Our exporting effort has been very successful and is a major portion of our business. We are located very close to central eastern major ports, interstates, rail, and air systems.
