What is WebEx?
SUSTA conducts online events using WebEx Event Center. WebEx services allow
SUSTA staff to share PowerPoint presentations, documents, web pages, and other applications
with companies, state marketing representatives, foreign buyers, and consultants. Attendees can ask questions through
a text message or chat. To attend a SUSTA online event, all you need is a computer with a connection to the internet and a telephone.
Why is SUSTA using WebEx?
SUSTA's online events allow SUSTA staff and the attendees to meet and interact
without the cost of travel. We can also record online presentations and post them on our website so
that others can view them later. SUSTA's online events are a time-efficient way to reach a greater
audience.
Hints for Using WebEx:
- Close other applications that are running
- Set your computer's display to 1024 by 768 pixels for optimal viewing
- Right-click on your desktop
- Select "Properties"
- Click on the "Settings" tab
- In the box on the lower right side of the window under "Screen Area," adjust the pointer to 1024 by 768
- Turn off your screen saver or increase the time it takes to turn on
- Close any pop-up blocking programs on your computer
- Make sure your Internet security settings allow cookies
- Under the "Tools" menu, click "Internet Options" and the "Security" tab, then scroll through the list
- Also click the "Privacy" tab and set the sliding scale to "Medium"
- Type in questions about the content during a presentation using the Q&A function
- If you are an AOL user, minimize your AOL connection and open the Internet Explorer
or Netscape browser on your computer. You can be connected to AOL but cannot use
the AOL browser to attend the meeting or access a recording.
- If you are a Mac user, make sure your system is a Mac OS X 10.2 and you have
Internet Explorer 5.2 or better as the browser. Anything less is not compatible with WebEx
live events or recordings.
To view one of our recorded events, go to http://sustaevents.webex.com and
click "Recorded Events" to the left of the page.
