Minority Export Training (MET)

Are you interested in finding new markets for your product? Do limited local marketing opportunities threaten your survival? Does exporting seem difficult?

The Minority Export Training program provides export training to small to medium-sized, new-to-export, minority- and woman-owned agricultural growers and processors. The training will prepare you for your first export experience (i.e. a trade show, a trade mission, an international sale), and help you develop an international business plan. The program will teach you basic exporting techniques including marketing your product, locating interested buyers, preparing your contract, financing your sale, and shipping your product.

Program Eligibility
You are eligible for the training if your business has:
  • Fewer than 500 employees (processors) or fewer than 100 employees (producers)
  • Staff willing to commit to actively entering an export market within 1 year
  • Exportable food or agricultural product(s)
  • A product available in the domestic market
  • Annual sales greater than $1 million
  • Adequate production capacity to supply export markets
